Code of the table
The rules nobody reads until they break one
House rules, in plain language — what's expected at the door, at the tables and at the counter, every night the room is open.
At the door
Eighteen and over, no exceptions
- Eighteen and over only — photo ID is checked at the door, no exceptions made for anyone.
- There's no cover charge and no membership required to find a seat on any given night.
- Closed-toe shoes aren't required, but thongs get a raised eyebrow from the regulars, if nothing else.
- Groups larger than six are welcome but may be split across two tables depending on the night.
At the tables
The dealer's word is final
- The house dealer's ruling is final on any disputed hand, cut or shuffle, no arguments taken to a second table.
- Chips are for points only; nobody exchanges them for cash at any table, at any time, for any reason.
- New players are welcome to ask for the rules of any game before a hand starts, not partway through it.
- Phones stay off the felt and on silent — step outside if a call can't wait for the next break.
- A seat left empty for more than one full hand may be offered to someone waiting for a table.
At the counter
Tea's poured, not self-served
- Tea and coffee are poured by counter staff only; nobody serves themselves from behind it, regulars included.
- The counter closes an hour before last hand, in line with the room's usual close.
- Water is free and refilled without being asked — the tables get warm by midnight.
- No poker machines and no pokies sit behind that counter — it's a card room, nothing else.
